PROGRAM ECOSYSTEM® · YOU ARE HERE

GFLX is Stage 1. The crisis. Kids who heal here flow through our 4 more stages of life-long support.

THE PROBLEM

Hospital rooms are sterile. Sick kids feel like patients, not people.

When you’re 9 years old stuck in a bed for 6 months of chemo, the medicine helps your body. What helps your spirit? Gaming. Not as a luxury — as medicine.

43%
Pain reduction (clinical)
From a 2022 meta-analysis of gaming therapy in pediatric settings. Distraction therapy works.
61%
Anxiety reduction (clinical)
Same study. Gaming during treatment isn’t just fun — it changes outcomes.
$1.50
Per gaming session
That’s what it costs us per child per session. Cheaper than a coffee. Saves anxiety, pain, treatment refusal.

HOW #GFLX WORKS

Three steps. Real game rooms. Real kids.

No abstract programs. This is what happens when a hospital partners with GFLX.

1

Listen.

A hospital reaches out. We tour, meet Child Life specialists, ask: “What do YOUR kids need?” Every hospital is different.

2

Build.

Custom delivery: consoles, game rooms, adaptive controllers, wifi upgrades, gaming carts. Whatever fits the space and the patients.

3

Support.

3-year partnership. Equipment warranties. 24/7 hotline for staff. We don’t drop and disappear — we stay.

WHAT HOSPITALS SAY

QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK

FAQ · GFLX Hospital Gaming

What is #GFLX (Games For Love Experience)?

#GFLX is the Games For Love program that brings gaming-as-distraction-therapy to children’s hospitals. We supply consoles, games, adaptive tech, wifi, and ongoing support. It’s free for partner hospitals — we cover everything through donations, sponsors, and partnerships. Per-session cost is about $1.50.

How does gaming actually help sick kids? (clinical evidence)

A 2022 meta-analysis showed gaming therapy during treatment delivers 43% pain reduction and 61% anxiety reduction for hospitalized pediatric patients. Child Life specialists call it “distraction therapy.” We call it giving kids their personality back during the worst moments of their lives.

Which hospitals partner with GFLX?

Over 200 children’s hospitals across all 50 US states and 11 countries internationally — including Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Cincinnati Children’s, Seattle Children’s, IWK Health Centre, and many more.

I work at a hospital. How do I bring GFLX to us?

Email [email protected] with your facility name and current Child Life setup. We schedule a virtual tour, build a custom plan, and ship the gear. No cost to your hospital.

Where does my donation actually go?

86% of every dollar goes directly to programs (gaming stations, equipment, hospital support). 14% covers admin and fundraising. Games For Love is a 4-Star Charity Navigator rated 501(c)(3). $1.50 = 1 life touched.

How is GFLX different from other hospital gaming donations?

Three things. (1) 3-year partnerships, not one-time drops. (2) Equipment warranties — if it breaks, we replace it. (3) 24/7 support hotline for hospital staff. Hospitals call us “the glue that makes everything work.”

How does GFLX connect to GFL’s other programs?

GFLX is Stage 1 of our Program Ecosystem®. Kids we help in the hospital can then continue through Kids of STEAM (free coding to catch up academically), Scholarships, Interns International, and League of Pros — supported from bedside to career.
