VTubers For Love: A New Way to Give Back

VTubers For Love

Our founder and CEO Nathan Blair loves getting out from behind his computer and into rooms full of the people we’re trying to reach, so when OffKai Expo Gen 5 came around this July, he was on a plane to San Jose without much convincing. Nathan was joined by his wife Krystal and Marketing Director Marko Realmonte. Between the cosplay, the concerts, and nine thousand-plus attendees packed into the McEnery Convention Center for North America’s biggest VTuber convention, the three of them spent the weekend doing what Games For Love does best: meeting people, telling our story, and listening to a community that turned out to be more than ready to help.

That’s because they weren’t just there to watch. They came to introduce VTubers For Love, and if you haven’t heard of it yet, you’re about to.

Why OffKai, why now?

OffKai has grown into North America’s largest VTuber convention in just five years, and this Gen 5 lineup, including the U.S. debut of HIMEHINA’s world tour, made it clear why. It was exactly the kind of room where a program like VFL should be introduced.

Games For Love has spent years bringing the healing power of play to kids in hospitals; right now that’s over 200 hospitals across 11 countries, reaching more than three million children a year. Video games have always been part of that mission. It only made sense that the people making games feel alive for millions of viewers every day would eventually become part of it too.

The first charity panel

Beyond the hallway conversations, the Games For Love crew made a special appearance at “VTubing for Good: Charity Streaming for Beginners,” a charity panel hosted by Neba and Angora alongside other charities doing good work in the VTubing space. We had the opportunity to share what charity streaming actually looks like from the nonprofit side, how the money gets used, what makes a campaign sustainable, and why creators of any size can make a real difference. It was a chance to put a face to Games For Love for a room full of people who may only have known us as a name on a donation page, and to hear directly from the community about what would make giving back feel more accessible.

So what actually is VTubers For Love?

In short: the first charity partner program built exclusively for VTubers, by fellow VTubers, with no follower count required and no pressure to raise big numbers. A creator can join, get matched with a stream buddy so they’re never live to an empty chat, and have a full starter kit with overlays, alerts, donation goals, and all the support they need to get their charity stream off the ground. The idea is simple. Raising even $25 is a win. Nobody gets made to feel small for starting small.

There are two ways into the program. Anyone can join “the family” with no clock and no quota attached, just a Discord seat and a desire to help in a future stream. But the thing people were really talking about at OffKai was the Founding VTuber track: only 500 seats, available only to those who complete a single charity stream before February 2027 and a spot in the Month of Love celebration that follows. It’s a badge nobody who joins after this year will ever be able to earn, and creators seemed to understand exactly what that meant the moment they heard about it.

The people behind it

The program has a face, and it’s Neko Mikki. Games For Love recently welcomed her onto the leadership team as our Community Director of Vtubers For Love, and she’s exactly the kind of creator who makes this feel credible rather than corporate: an accomplished VTuber, classically trained singer, and someone who’s already used her own platform to raise money and awareness for the cause, including headlining her HeartWAVE Festival, a charity concert for Games For Love earlier this year. Throughout the weekend, she promoted the new VFL Program, met creators, answered questions, and explained how the program actually works, pairing her credibility inside the VTuber community with the team that built VFL from the ground up.

VTubers For Love is committed to supporting and respecting the VTuber community. We will never use AI-generated images to represent our VTubers, creators, or community. All visual content will be created by or sourced from real artists and creators, because we believe the people who bring this community to life deserve to be supported and credited.

What people are saying

The reaction online has matched the energy on the floor. When Games For Love first announced Mikki’s new role, the post spread quickly through VTuber Twitter, with creators tagging their friends and asking how to sign up as founding members before the seats ran out. That kind of organic, peer-to-peer excitement is exactly what a program like this needs to work. VTubers trust other VTubers, and seeing someone they already watch vouch for something tends to carry a lot more weight than any ad outreach ever could.

“I’m so excited to have Neko Mikki leading the VTubers For Love community. She totally gets what Games For Love is all about, and she’s someone the VTuber community genuinely connects with. Watching her bring people together and get everyone excited has been amazing, and we’re just getting started. I can’t wait to see where she takes this.”

It’s early days for VTubers For Love, but between the response at OffKai and what’s happening on social media since, it’s clear this isn’t a niche experiment. It’s a community finding a new way to show up for kids who need it. One stream, one dollar at a time.
