Bringing Hope to Kurt
In the heart of Batangas lives a brave little boy named Kurt, the youngest of five siblings. At just six years old, he’s already faced battles most of us can only imagine.
Kurt was first diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in 2020. For over three years, he fought through countless treatments, hospital visits, and long nights — and by December 2023, his family finally heard the words they had been praying for: “Kurt is in remission.”
But in July 2024, symptoms began to return. A cough. A fever. Then redness in his eye. Soon after, test results confirmed the family’s worst fear: Kurt’s leukemia had relapsed.
Now, Kurt is back on chemotherapy, facing another long road to recovery that’s expected to continue until November 2026.
Despite the challenges, Kurt’s spirit shines. He loves to draw, laugh, and play — even when he doesn’t feel well. But his family is struggling to keep up with the cost of his treatments. His dad is a delivery driver, and his mom takes on laundry work and sells banana cue and turon just to make ends meet. With medical bills mounting, Kurt’s older siblings have had to pause their education to help support the family.
Last April, when Kurt needed his chemotherapy session, his family couldn’t afford the ₱8,050 balance after paying a small ₱1,000 down payment. That’s when Games For Love stepped in. Thanks to our donors, we were able to cover the remaining cost — ensuring Kurt didn’t have to miss his treatment.
But there are many more treatments ahead. And Kurt’s family can’t do it alone.
