“I’m a brave warrior, and I’m not afraid of needles.”

 Eight-year-old Brylle proudly declares these words every time he sits for another round of chemotherapy.

Brylle is the youngest of ten siblings in Bataan, Philippines. His mom stays home to care for the family, including his dad, who is still recovering from a life-threatening illness. Three of Brylle’s siblings have families of their own, while four are still in school. His eldest sister and his mom take turns looking after him, making sure he never feels alone in this fight.

Brylle was recently diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer. He receives treatment at a public hospital in Bataan, but the cost of life-saving medicines often stretches far beyond what his family can afford. When the hospital pharmacy runs out of stock, his parents must search for the medication elsewhere—an overwhelming challenge for a family already doing everything to stay afloat.

Games For Love stepped in during some of Brylle’s most critical moments.
We provided a two-month supply of vital antibiotics. Then, after a frightening hospital stay due to severe bleeding caused by thrombocytopenia, we once again ensured Brylle had the medicine he needed to continue treatment when he was discharged.

Through our medical support program, 1Up LifeBridge, we provided life-saving treatments for children in developing countries who otherwise could not afford care. To date, at least 5,000 children’s lives have been saved thanks to this program, and many more have been given critical treatments and hope for the future.

Brylle’s courage inspires everyone around him. Despite endless hospital visits and painful procedures, he faces each day with a smile and the heart of a warrior.
