One of our key partners in the Philippines, Claire Henderson, has been honored with an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire), presented by King Charles at Buckingham Palace. This prestigious recognition is a testament to Claire’s unwavering commitment to serving vulnerable children for the past 26 years through Helping Hands Healing Hearts Ministries.

The MBE is awarded for outstanding achievement and service to the community, recognizing those who have made a lasting impact. Claire was deeply moved upon learning about the honor, having been nominated anonymously. She traveled to Buckingham Palace on February 4th, accompanied by her parents, daughter, and Marissa, the assistant director of Helping Hands. Marissa, who has been by Claire’s side for two decades, was equally deserving of recognition in Claire’s eyes. “We’ve been working together for 20 years, so I felt the award is for her too! She puts her heart and soul into the ministry,” Claire shared.

A Partnership Changing Lives

Through Helping Hands, Claire and her team assist families in caring for their sick children, ensuring they receive essential medical support. Games For Love has been a crucial partner in this mission, providing financial resources that make life-saving treatments possible.

“So at Helping Hands, we come alongside families and help them care for their sick child with help from Games For Love,” Claire explained. “We do the practical side of it using the finances gifted from GFL. It’s a partnership that has changed thousands of lives over the years, helped save many children’s lives, and helped keep families together.”

The Ongoing Need for Support

Claire’s message to Games For Love supporters is clear: the need never stops. Every day, parents reach out seeking help for surgeries, medications, and critical treatments. The ability to say “yes” to these families depends on the generosity of donors who keep the support flowing.

“Every day, we get requests from parents asking for help for surgeries, medications, and help to prepare the child for upcoming treatments. The need is always present. That’s why the support of GFL is vital. It means once we have properly screened the family, we can go ahead and say YES to helping because the finances are available. To do that, we need donations to continue to flow. The success of GFL means success too for the children of Helping Hands.”
