1UP LifeBridge Helps Jamie Fight Cancer

Jamie’s story is one of remarkable courage and resilience in the face of adversity. When she collapsed in pain without warning, Jamie’s parents knew she was in urgent need of help. Living as humble workers, they had limited resources. But, they were determined to help their child. They would do everything in their power to relieve Jamie’s pain.

The journey to the nearest hospital was a grueling two-day ordeal, made even more difficult by the scorching 100+ degree heat. But thanks to the intervention of 1Up LifeBridge, Jamie was able to receive the urgent medical attention she needed. The doctors immediately recognized the severity of her condition and rushed her into emergency surgery to remove her leg, which had been ravaged by an aggressive form of cancer called osteosarcoma.

The surgery was a success, and in the weeks that followed, Jamie began to recover and regain her strength. But her journey was far from over. As a young person, she faced the daunting prospect of learning to walk and play again with a prosthesis. It was here that Games For Love stepped in, going the extra mile to source a prosthesis for Jamie.

When the prosthesis arrived, Jamie was overwhelmed with gratitude and joy. Her eyes filled with tears of happiness and laughter, a testament to her strength and resilience. Today, she is a cancer survivor, and she credits 1Up LifeBridge for not only saving her life but also helping her get back on her feet.
